- bass music over 2h/55m/05s - by nik! (hula honeys; zürich) & new.com (comfortnoise, dubexmachina; zürich) - video live streamed on friday april 13th 2012 over livebeats → full timecoded playlist (pdf)
nik! (hula honeys; zh – soundcloud, discogs) has found his very own style in electronic music. as dj and producer he loves to deal with heavy basslines by oscillating between tradition and innovation, crossing the vast fields of bass music, d’n’b, hiphop and reggae, back and forth. together with his mates soult and random bit generator he runs the label "hula honeys". their releases never serve actual trends but provide tracks that you have to discover and love by yourself. you meet nik! on all kind of national and international stages. what he actually favours are the secret places where people trustfully open their ears to the over and over astonishing blends that he performs. the same we do in comfortnoise podcast 028-0412.

ajele (soundcloud, facebook - i feel you, kreis zwei; zh) joined zürichs underground electronic music scene in 1996. ever since she has - quite exceptional for a swiss dj - played all over the world. after initiating her first own label "chicks behind the decks" in 2002, she's currently co-running the event "i feel you" at our favourite club cabaret in zürich. additionally she's producing tracks together with klaus amrein (aka cooky) forming the project "kreis zwei". (in 2009 they received the electronic award at the m4music demotape clinic contest.) ajele loves to play classy music in steamy clubs for an open minded crowd and she has a lot of experience in delivering sets for radio shows. we're indeed honoured to finally welcome her in a comfortnoise podcast!

it’s obvious that during the last years, our musical gravity center checklessly shifted from berlin towards london. what before was dubstep and slowed down to funky has currently lost its name - for we think “post-dubstep” is an improper appellation. what we perceive is a particular treatment of the bass combined with the indispensable rules of dub that thoroughly refreshed house and techno. as we never lost sight of our starting point, we focus on more berlin-centered developments in this show. it’s a selection that highlights what absorbed us since the year one: a darkness, filled with hope.
